Michael Henson Chairman
Mr. Henson is a co-founder of Reverse Medical Corporation, was named "Corporate Director of the Year" among all Orange County executives in 2000. He founded the MedFocus Fund with the Japan Asia Investment Company, Ltd., one of the largest venture capital firms in Japan and a group of international limited investors from around the world. Mr. Henson has participated in the formation of more than seventeen medical technology and pharmaceutical firms. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of nine medical firms, and is Chairman of seven of the companies. Mr. Henson has founded or served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for many successful emerging health care, medical device or biotechnology firms. Mr. Henson has successfully taken a number of companies public via the IPO process and negotiated the successful acquisition of several emerging companies to large multi-national healthcare firms.
Jeffrey Valko CEO
Mr. Valko is a co-founder of Reverse Medical Corporation, and serves on the Board of Directors. He was previously a Manager of the MedFocus Management Company, LLC. He brings over 25 years of industry experience in medical device development ranging from early stage start-up to large corporate (Johnson & Johnson, Baxter Healthcare) environments, including a several year Southeast Asia expatriate role. Mr. Valko has an extensive background of leadership in Research and Development, Product Development, Business Development and early stage start-up value building. He has also sponsored/lead large US multi-center randomized clinical trials and numerous pre-clinical studies. Mr. Valko has also served as Chief Operating Officer for a next generation non-polymer drug eluting stent technology and a trans-vascular aortic heart valve technology, both acquired by large multi-national corporations. He has represented several MedFocus portfolio companies in roles including interim CEO, Director, Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Valko serves on the Board of Directors of several medical device companies. Mr. Valko holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Healthcare Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
Gerard Harper Director
Mr. Harper is Investment Manager at NBGI Ventures, a London-based venture capital fund focusing on medical technologies. In addition to serving as a Director to Reverse Medical, he serves as a non-executive director of Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics, a developer of innovative cardiac ablation catheter systems based in Laguna Beach, California. He is also observer to the Board of Quanta Fluid Solutions Ltd, a UK-based home haemodialysis company. Mr. Harper joined NBGI Ventures from Nomura Code Securities Ltd, the small- to mid-cap Life Sciences and Cleantech arm of Nomura International plc, where he was VP Corporate Finance and worked on a broad range of transactions including IPOs, secondary fundraisings, and M&A mandates. Prior to that he worked in communications and strategic planning consulting to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Mr. Harper holds a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology & Physiology from the University of Manchester and an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the Judge School of Management at the University of Cambridge.
Paul Mieyal PhD, Director
Dr. Mieyal is a Vice President of Wexford Capital LP, an SEC registered investment advisor with over $6 billion of assets under management located in Greenwich, CT. Prior to that, he was Vice President in charge of healthcare investments for Wechsler & Co., Inc., a private investment firm and registered broker-dealer. Dr. Mieyal serves as a Director of Nephros, Inc., Nile Therapeutics, Inc., Oncovista Innovative Therapies, Inc. and several privately held companies. Dr. Mieyal received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from New York Medical College, his B.A. in chemistry and psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Robert A. Stern Director
Mr. Stern was President and Chief Operating Officer, of Micrus Endovascular, Inc.,(NASDAQ, MEND) through the acquisition of Micrus by a division of Johnson and Johnson in October 2010. Mr. Stern was appointed President and Chief Operating officer of Micrus in 2007 and had served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company since 2004. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Context Connect, Inc., a telecommunications company. In 2000, he served as the Executive Vice President of Qixel Capital Group, an investment holding company. From 1996 to 2000, he served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of InnerDyne, Inc., (NASDAQ, IDYN) a medical device company. From 1991 to 1996, he served as Vice President, Corporate Finance and Chief Financial Officer of RhoMed Incorporated, a pharmaceutical company. Mr. Stern received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, Whittemore School of Business and Economics, and his M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management. Mr Stern currently serves on the Boards of Reverse Medical Corporation, Nexeon MedSystems, Inc., Flexible Stenting Solutions, Inc., and Travel Wrangler, Inc. all private companies.
John Yianni PhD, Director
Dr. Yianni is a founder of a number of medical device companies, and has served on the management or board of several. Previously he was the first employee of Biocompatibles plc in the UK where he led development and launch of the first coated coronary stent in Europe. Dr Yianni has a degree in Biochemistry and PhD in Biophysics.
